In addition to discussing daughter Britney's disintegration, Lynne Spears also opened up on Wednesday's Today show about daughter Jamie Lynn getting pregnant at 16. Lynne recalled how she was planning to go out for lunch when Jamie Lynn called and told her to come home.
At home, Lynne found her daughter's boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, who avoided eye contact. Jamie Lynn then handed her mother a note and told her to go into her bedroom to read it. "It said she was pregnant and everything was going to be OK. She was going to raise it," Lynne told Meredith Vieira. "I thought it was a joke I was waiting for the punch line," Lynne added. "I was in shock. I think I was just truly in shock, and then I started to cry. And she started consoling me at that point."
Lynne -- who sold the story to OK! for $1 million -- added that she blamed herself for her children's personal dramas. "As a mother, don’t we always blame ourselves?" she said. "I took a lot of the blame. I took all the blame. The personality I have, it's always my fault."
Lynne told Al Roker in a later segment, "A mother is as happy as her most unhappy child. You kind of gravitate toward the one who needs you the most at that time ... It's a balancing act. Maybe I haven't done it as best as I could, but all I ever tell you is I tried." Referencing her book Through the Storm, Roker asked, "Are you through the storm?" "Oh, yes," Lynne said. "We’re through the storm and we're looking at the sunshine right now."

Could Harlow Madden have a little brother or sister soon? "If it happens, it happens," Nicole Richie told Extra Monday. She said she and Joel Madden are "just enjoying every day" raising eight-month-old daughter Harlow. "She is pulling herself up standing ... we don't have to burp her anymore," Nicole said. She's even beginning to form her first words. "She says 'mama' and 'dada,'" Joel said. "She says 'dada' when she wants to play. Wants to laugh. And 'mama' is everything else. When we walk into a place, she waves to everyone."
Nicole said she doesn't try to insulate Harlow from fame. "My priority is to make her unaware. She's eight months now. I can't put her in the infant seat and cover her. She'd definitely know something's going on ... she wants to experience life and, as a mother, that's important."
Nicole and Joel are also getting more involved in children's charity work. (The pair started the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation to help needy mothers last November.)
Their new initiative: Encouraging people to text "child" to 9-0999 ($5 will be donated to a children’s charity they sponsor). Being a parent, Joel said, "opens your eyes. Every child I look at reminds me of my child. And every mother I see reminds me of Nicole."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have given $2 million to fund a children's health clinic in Ethiopia, where their 3-year-old daughter Zahara was born. The center, which will focus on serving children with tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, will be run by the Global Health Committee. "It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission," Brad said in a statement.
The Jolie-Pitts run a similar clinic in Cambodia - where their 7-year-old son Maddox was born - called Maddox Chivan Children's Center. "Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease," Angelina said in a statement.
"The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable," Brad added. This week, the power couple ranked sixth on Parade magazine's list of the most generous celebrities. They gave $8.4 million in 2007.

Eva Longoria is blasting bump watches. "I wish people would just chill out," she says on tonight’s special 15th season premiere of Extra when asked about those pregnancy rumors. "You’ll know when it happens.” She says she recently bonded with Jennifer Garner, who also faced pregnant speculation months before she announced she was expecting her second child. "When I saw her she was like, 'I know. They just need to chill out. They're going to find out eventually,'" Eva recalls Jennifer as saying.
And while she insists she is not pregnant, Eva says she'd wait three months before breaking the news anyway. "You just don't say anything for health reasons. You just want to make sure everything's okay," she said. "It's funny because [bloggers] are like, 'Oh, Eva is wearing baggy clothes,'" she went on. "It's not like I dressed like a hoochie mama before!"

Britney Spears has arranged a wonderful birthday present for herself: her sixth studio album, Circus, due for release December 2 – the day she turns 27, her label announced Monday. Coming so soon after her triple victory – for video of the year, best female video and best pop video for "Piece of Me" – at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, Circus follows up her well-received 2007 album Blackout and continues the upward spiral the sometimes-troubled pop star has been experiencing.
The Outsyders, described by Britney's label, Jive records, as an up-and-coming Atlanta production team, have produced the first single from the album, "Womanizer," which will drop Sept. 22. Other producers and writers with a hand in the album, according to Jive, include Dr. Luke (writer-producer of the title track, "Circus"), Danja, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and Guy Sigsworth – who's collaborated with such other artists as Madonna, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.
In all, Britney has sold more than 62 million albums internationally, including 1999's Baby One More Time, 2000's Oops! … I Did It Again, 2001' Britney, 2003's In The Zone and the previously mentioned Blackout. Her sales records include eight No. 1 worldwide singles and four consecutive No. 1 albums. Also on Monday, Guinness World Records revealed another accolade for Britney: she has replaced Paris Hilton as the Most Searched Person on the Internet in 2007.

The father of Kelly Taylor’s 4-year-old son Sammy will finally be revealed on Tuesday’s episode of 90210, PEOPLE has learned. And Brenda Walsh will be the one spilling the beans! Brenda (Shannen Doherty) and Kelly (Jennie Garth) will be having a serious conversation about Sammy’s dad when Brenda reveals his name. In another twist, the show’s executive producer Gabe Sachs told PEOPLE that there’s a “possibility” the baby’s father could appear on a future episode. Who it could be?
So far, Kelly has mentioned she knew him in high school and they have history together. The couple went their separate ways, but hooked up four years ago. Since then, he’s been out of the picture. In the series premiere, Kelly took a 3 a.m. phone call from Brandon who is now living in Belize. Their late-night talk was interrupted when Sammy walked in. Perhaps another clue?
Sachs and fellow executive producer Jeff Judah already know who they wanted to be the father, and also discussed it with Jennie. He said Shannen and Jennie were great about the news and had a lot of fun. “The two of them love being in on secrets,” he said. Fans will be in on the secret when it’s revealed Sept. 16, 8 p.m. ET on the CW.

Britney Spears revved up the celebration for sons Sean Preston and Jayden James on Saturday, throwing her sons a joint car and truck-themed birthday bash in Los Angeles. And the party was truly a family affair. Britney celebrated her boys' special days – Preston turns 3 on Sept. 14, and Jayden turned 2 on Sept. 12 – with sister Jamie Lynn Spears, her newborn niece Maddie Briann, dad Jamie and mom Lynne.
Held at close friend Adrienne Maloof-Nassif's Beverly Park house, the outdoor party drew some famous guests, including Jenny McCarthy with her son Evan, and Gwen Stefani's son Kingston, 2, who came to the bash from an equally starry affair: He celebrated Heidi Klum's son Henry's 3rd birthday at the model's Beverly Hills house along with all three of Victoria Beckham's sons.
But the guests of honor seemed to be having the best time. Preston and Jayden drove around the party in mini motorized cars, which were customized Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier. The cars featured tattoo-inspired decals, Ed Hardy air fresheners and personalized license plates. To keep with the party's theme, the cake was in shape of a yellow truck. "The boys received tons of birthday gifts," a source told PEOPLE. "Britney and her family really made the party special for the boys."

Wearing a short and sparkly black frock with a plunging neckline that had camera operators on high alert for a wardrobe malfunction, Jessica Simpson made her Grand Ole Opry debut Saturday night.
Performing "Come On Over," the first single from her new country album, Do You Know, before a nearly-sold out house that included her parents, her grandparents, aunts and uncles "...from all over Texas," she told Nan Kelley, host of Opry Live, felt "like a homecoming to me."
"I can't believe I am here!" Jess, 28, said. Audience members, it seemed, couldn't believe her costume choice. "I think she should have put some clothes on," one viewer said. While another one responded to how she liked Jessica's performance with: "I loved that new girl, Crystal [Shawanda] – and she was dressed appropriately."
Front-row fan Mandy, who was chosen by GAC out of the audience as "Jessica's biggest fan" and given the chance to go backstage for a meet and greet, gushed,"I think everything she does is perfect. I love her!"
Also helping make Jessica feel at home at the 83-year-old institution was country legend Loretta Lynn, who watched Simpson's emotional performances of "Remember That" and "Sippin' on History" from the wings before taking the stage herself.
Though Jessica, Patty Loveless and newcomer Crystal Shawanda were warmly received, it was Loretta who brought the entire audience to its feet before she sang a single note of her classics "Fist City," "Coal Miner's Daughter" and "The Pill."
During Loretta's feisty performance, Jessica took photos of her long-time hero and visited with her at length in a private office backstage, where Loretta advised the younger star not to read her own press. "Just keep doing what you're doing honey and you'll be fine!"
Opry Live will be re-broadcast through Wednesday on GAC. Jesscia performs on Good Morning America's Fall Concert Series Tuesday morning, and on The View and Late Show with David Letterman Thursday.

It was Britney's night! The pop star made a triumphant return to MTV's Video Music Awards, winning three Moonmen, including the night's big honor, video of the year, for her hit "Piece of Me." "I'm in shock," the grateful singer said after accepting her third award of the night from NBA star Kobe Bryant.
Britney, of course, was the subject of much speculation and excitement after word spread that she would be opening the ceremony. She looked a little nervous at first, but proved to be in fighting form in a vintage silver Versace minidress. After being escorted from her dressing room, Brit took center stage, clutched the microphone tightly and announced, "I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday." Continued Britney: "This is the 25th Video Music Awards – and it starts right now."
Moments later, Britney was back to accept her first VMA ever. Nominated for 16 Moonmen in the past, the pop star nabbed the first award of the night, best female video, for her song "Piece of Me." Britney gave a brief speech, thanking God for "just blessing me like this," calling out her two sons and dedicating the award to her fans. "This is for you," she said.
And her fans were everywhere Sunday night. Haley Williams from Paramore saw Brit backstage and was overheard remarking to a bandmate, "Man, Britney looks really pretty." Britney later picked up her second award for best pop video, also for "Piece of Me." "I'm speechless," she chiped as she offered thanks to manager Larry Rudolph, who accompanied her to the show, and her fans.

Her marriage to Nick Lachey may not have worked out, but Jessica Simpson still wants to walk down the aisle again someday. "I would love to be making records and making babies, and hopefully I'm married in 10 years," she tells Fox News in a new interview. "I have the dreams of every normal person."
In the meantime, she is working on her other "baby" - her her country album, Do You Know, which drops September 9. On the album, she sings "Remember That," a tune about an abusive relationship. (She has said, "There's nothing on my album ... that I don't relate to or that I haven't experienced.") "It was one of those moments that just moved me to tears — it's empowering," she says of the song, which she didn't write.
"It's about that woman really standing up for herself in an abusive situation - whether it is mental, physical, emotional," she goes on. "Everybody has dealt with abuse in some sort of way." She adds, "I thought it was important to tell women to take their heart and run as fast as they can if they're in that situation, because you're better than that."

Jennifer Lopez is not the type to skimp; she doesn’t do things one at a time. Careers, for instance. Or kids. Or offices. She has an office in her Los Angeles home; one across town at her Nuyorican Productions film company near UCLA; one at Sweetface, her New York fashion company situated across the street from Bryant Park, home to the city’s Fashion Week. And we’re sitting in another one now, in her house on Long Island, though “house” is an understatement it’s less house than estate—compound, even—hidden behind a gate at the end of an all-but-unlabeled street.
She’s 39 now. Hard to believe—15 years since her Fly Girl days on In Living Color. We’ve seen her through two divorces (to Ojani Noa, a waiter-chef, and backup dancer-choreographer Cris Judd) and two other very public relationships: one with Ben Affleck that caved under media scrutiny and a box-office flop, and one with Sean Combs that ended in a post arrest (his) breakup.
She has released eight albums (five of them platinum or more) and 21 movies. Her ubiquity has been extraordinary; after breaking out as Tejano star Selena in the 1997 biopic, it was virtually impossible to open a magazine or turn on a television or radio without a full-blown Lopezapalooza. In 2001, she was the first woman to have an album ( J.Lo, her second) and a movie (The Wedding Planner) both open at No. 1 the same week.
There’s a calm surrounding her. She chalks it up to the birth of her twins, Max and Emme, now seven months old. “All of a sudden,” she says, “the world is very clear. ‘This is important, this is not, this is okay, this is not.’ That’s what the world comes down to.” She wears little visible makeup, and with her hair in a bun, huge hoop earrings, and a long halter dress on, she’s squarely in casual-mother mode.
Well, mostly; her flip-flops are bejeweled Puccis that her friends Dolce and Gabbana picked out for her on a recent trip to Europe. She’s still J.Lo, after all, a woman who never met a fabulous outfit she didn’t like. “I’ve always loved the glamour,” she says with the slightest shrug. So sue me. “I can’t shy away from that. I’ve always been very girly.”
But even as her stranglehold on the box office and album charts has loosened a bit—a look at IMDB’s all-knowing Starmeter shows her often enjoying Top 20 status until after the Affleck/Gigli affair of 2003—her whole has become much, much greater than the sum of her ventures.
Jennifer was costume-changing her way around the world on tour with Marc —and when she finally holed up for her third trimester, she somehow saw it as a fashion opportunity: “I was like, How am I going to rock this moment of my life?” In early February, roughly two weeks before the twins were born, she commissioned photographer Tony Duran to shoot a book of her as a Valentine’s gift for Marc.
She has an assistant bring in the book. It is oversize, lushly shot, and frankly looks like the sexiest maternity catalog in existence: Jennifer in full makeup, hair done up, wearing long cashmere sweaters pulled up to expose her nigh-to-bursting belly. “I felt very womanly,” she says. “Marc was in a dream. He loved it.”
The pregnancy itself was a surprise, as the couple had all but given up on the possibility of having children. They had wanted to start a family as soon as they got married in 2004, she says, “then it just didn’t happen.” Despite rumors to the contrary, Jennifer says that they never pursued in vitro fertilization. “We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us—I had been checked, and he had kids already,” she says. “I knew, Something’s not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it’s going to happen.”
And it did, almost exactly three years later. Jennifer was by herself in Portugal for a show when she realized she was five days late for her period; Marc, at home in New York, was convinced that she was pregnant. “I was sitting down doing hair and makeup,” she says, “and I felt a flutter. The weirdest little…flourish. My makeup artist said, ‘What’s the matter?’ I didn’t say anything, but in my head, I was like, I have life inside me!” As soon as she got back to the States, out came the pregnancy tests. Twenty of them. Including one that she made Marc take: “I needed to see what a negative looked like!”

Brit – who has been nominated 16 times and never won a Moon Man – is up for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for "Piece of Me." It's still not known how she'll open the show. A source confirms that the opening segment will not feature a musical performance by Britney.
Adds MTV Networks Music President Van Toffler: "Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas," he says, referring to her lackluster performance at the awards show in Sin City last year. "I can't wait to see what she does to kick off this year's show."
The VMAs air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday from Los Angeles.
