Trying to sweep Kate Hudson off her feet? Try taking her out for miniature golf – but whatever you do, don't be boring. The actress shared some of her best and worst dating moments Monday at a press conference for her new comedy, My Best Friend's Girl, opening Sept. 19. "One date, I just left before we even ordered food because the guy was just so deeply boring that it was like, 'I'm going to just save us from all of this and just leave,' " said Kate, 29, adding that her date "was in banking. I'm not kidding."
Instead, the actress suggests other ways to get her motor running. "I like to be surprised [with] something fun or something different, like racing cars ... or miniature golf or something," Kate told PEOPLE later at her film's premiere. "If you're going to go on a date, do it right, you know?"
Kate's romantic life has been star-studded – she was married to Chris Robinson and has been involved with Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong. But after a tough day on the job, the actress says it's her family (including son Ryder, 4) and friends that keep her grounded. "In order to deal with [everything], I just once again go back to my life at home with my family, my son and my friends," she said. "It makes everything okay. It makes everything feel more balanced."

Kate Hudson may be reluctant to chat about recent romances, but there is one man about whom the star is not shy about gushing – ex-husband Chris Robinson. "We can talk about Chris till the dogs come home. I married Chris, I had a baby with Chris, Chris will be in my life for the rest of my life," Kate, 29, says in the September's W magazine.
"It's so hard for me, because I'm so open, to hold back. I could really just go on forever about this stuff," she says. "But everything else – I've learned that things are better left private until you're actually planning the wedding."
Kate also talks about her ex in terms of her son, Ryder, now 4. "We iChat with Chris constantly," she says. "No matter what is going on in my life, relationship-wise, Chris takes absolute precedence. It's important for Ryder to hear me say how wonderful Chris is, and how much Chris misses him."
With turning 30 on her horizon next April, Kate says, "Am I gonna look back and say, 'God, I wish I could have gone to that ... concert?' I'd rather be listening to my son sing songs. I'd rather be watching him sleep."

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong called it quits this weekend after a three-month romance that went public when they were spotted in Austin, Texas in mid-May, Usmagazine.com exclusively reports. "There was no drama or ugliness – They just decided to end things," a source close to the couple tells Us. "There is no hatred, just sadness."
The pair quickly became inseparable with sightings of them in Austin, New York and Los Angeles – though both dodged questions about their relationship. In the short time they were together, the 29-year-old actress was seen with the 36-year-old cyclist at many of his races and events, including his three-day Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.
It was at the conference that Kate and Lance decided to go their separate ways, a source tells Us. Each had introduced the other to family. Kate's mom Goldie Hawn gave what seemed to be her approval at a July 1 lunch at The Ivy at the Shore. Also, Kate's four-year-old son Ryder went to a Father's Day brunch with Kate — and dad Chris Robinson – in June.
