Britney Spears has arranged a wonderful birthday present for herself: her sixth studio album, Circus, due for release December 2 – the day she turns 27, her label announced Monday. Coming so soon after her triple victory – for video of the year, best female video and best pop video for "Piece of Me" – at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, Circus follows up her well-received 2007 album Blackout and continues the upward spiral the sometimes-troubled pop star has been experiencing.
The Outsyders, described by Britney's label, Jive records, as an up-and-coming Atlanta production team, have produced the first single from the album, "Womanizer," which will drop Sept. 22. Other producers and writers with a hand in the album, according to Jive, include Dr. Luke (writer-producer of the title track, "Circus"), Danja, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and Guy Sigsworth – who's collaborated with such other artists as Madonna, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.
In all, Britney has sold more than 62 million albums internationally, including 1999's Baby One More Time, 2000's Oops! … I Did It Again, 2001' Britney, 2003's In The Zone and the previously mentioned Blackout. Her sales records include eight No. 1 worldwide singles and four consecutive No. 1 albums. Also on Monday, Guinness World Records revealed another accolade for Britney: she has replaced Paris Hilton as the Most Searched Person on the Internet in 2007.

Britney Spears revved up the celebration for sons Sean Preston and Jayden James on Saturday, throwing her sons a joint car and truck-themed birthday bash in Los Angeles. And the party was truly a family affair. Britney celebrated her boys' special days – Preston turns 3 on Sept. 14, and Jayden turned 2 on Sept. 12 – with sister Jamie Lynn Spears, her newborn niece Maddie Briann, dad Jamie and mom Lynne.
Held at close friend Adrienne Maloof-Nassif's Beverly Park house, the outdoor party drew some famous guests, including Jenny McCarthy with her son Evan, and Gwen Stefani's son Kingston, 2, who came to the bash from an equally starry affair: He celebrated Heidi Klum's son Henry's 3rd birthday at the model's Beverly Hills house along with all three of Victoria Beckham's sons.
But the guests of honor seemed to be having the best time. Preston and Jayden drove around the party in mini motorized cars, which were customized Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier. The cars featured tattoo-inspired decals, Ed Hardy air fresheners and personalized license plates. To keep with the party's theme, the cake was in shape of a yellow truck. "The boys received tons of birthday gifts," a source told PEOPLE. "Britney and her family really made the party special for the boys."

Jamie Lynn Spears tuned into the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night to watch her big sister Britney open the show -- and go on to win three Moonmen. "[Jamie Lynn Spears] is good job Brit... I thought you looked amazing," the 17-year-old mom wrote in a Facebook status update.
Britney, 26, won her first Moonmen during the show: Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. "I'm speechless," she said. "Oh, my goodness, thank you! I first wanna thank God for blessing me like this. My family... my two beautiful boys for inspiring me everyday."
Britney also reunited with onetime BFF Paris Hilton at the awards. "She looked beautiful," Paris told Usmagazine.com. "I'm so happy for her. She definitely deserves it." What did Paris tell Britney? "'I love you, I miss you, so good to see you,'" she said.

It was Britney's night! The pop star made a triumphant return to MTV's Video Music Awards, winning three Moonmen, including the night's big honor, video of the year, for her hit "Piece of Me." "I'm in shock," the grateful singer said after accepting her third award of the night from NBA star Kobe Bryant.
Britney, of course, was the subject of much speculation and excitement after word spread that she would be opening the ceremony. She looked a little nervous at first, but proved to be in fighting form in a vintage silver Versace minidress. After being escorted from her dressing room, Brit took center stage, clutched the microphone tightly and announced, "I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday." Continued Britney: "This is the 25th Video Music Awards – and it starts right now."
Moments later, Britney was back to accept her first VMA ever. Nominated for 16 Moonmen in the past, the pop star nabbed the first award of the night, best female video, for her song "Piece of Me." Britney gave a brief speech, thanking God for "just blessing me like this," calling out her two sons and dedicating the award to her fans. "This is for you," she said.
And her fans were everywhere Sunday night. Haley Williams from Paramore saw Brit backstage and was overheard remarking to a bandmate, "Man, Britney looks really pretty." Britney later picked up her second award for best pop video, also for "Piece of Me." "I'm speechless," she chiped as she offered thanks to manager Larry Rudolph, who accompanied her to the show, and her fans.

Britney Spears will open the show at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, PEOPLE has learned. "MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs?" Britney tells PEOPLE in a statement. "I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated."
Brit – who has been nominated 16 times and never won a Moon Man – is up for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for "Piece of Me." It's still not known how she'll open the show. A source confirms that the opening segment will not feature a musical performance by Britney.
Adds MTV Networks Music President Van Toffler: "Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas," he says, referring to her lackluster performance at the awards show in Sin City last year. "I can't wait to see what she does to kick off this year's show."
The VMAs air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday from Los Angeles.

Britney Spears's restraining order against one-time pal Sam Lutfi may have been temporary, but their friendship is permanently over. The pop star's court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, told the Associated Press that he will not seek to extend the restraining order in court on Thursday – because Britney has cut all ties with Lutfi anyway. "Britney has made clear to everyone," Ingham said, "that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future."
Lutfi has been out of Britney's life since February, when her father, Jamie, was granted legal control of her affairs as temporary conservator. (At the time, Britney's mother, Lynne, accused Lutfi of drugging the singer.) According to Ingham, the restraining order is no longer necessary because Jamie can legally control whom Britney, 26, sees: "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore."
Lutfi, it seems, will abide by the Spears family's wishes. He said in his own statement to the AP, "Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Spears have mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time." Ingham added that once Britney regains control of her life, she will continue to keep Lutfi out of it. "If Mr. Lutfi makes any future attempt to contact Britney after the temporary conservatorship has concluded," he said, "Britney has made clear she will take all appropriate legal action."
Also it has been announced that Britney's father was granted legal control of his daughter until December 31, a court ruled Thursday. Jamie Spears, 56, was named temporary conservator of her affairs on February 1 following his 26-year-old daughter's two forced hospitalizations in January. The conservatorship has been extended until the end of the year, but a progress review of the case has been set for October 28.
"The extension of the conservatorship was at the request and suggestion of Britney's doctors," says a source close to the singer. "They've indicated she's made great improvement, but it's a work in progress. Jamie Spears doesn't want the conservatorship to last a day longer than the doctors recommend."
Jamie has sole authority over whom his daughter has contact with, and has hired security guards to watch her 24 hours a day. He shares control with another lawyer over her multimillion-dollar estate.

In his first public appearance since he was granted sole custody of his two sons with Britney Spears earlier this month, Kevin Federline hit the links Tuesday.
Asked how he is doing these days, the single dad told PEOPLE: "Been having a good summer, I can't complain." Kevin, 30, who spoke to PEOPLE at skateboarder Ryan Sheckler's X Games Celebrity Skins Classic, outside L.A., said he's been balancing career and parenting. "I've worked here and there a little bit," he said. "Definitely staying at home with the family."
As for how sons Jayden James, 1 1/2, and Sean Preston, 2 1/2, are doing, Kevin said, "They're good." He was tight-lipped, however, when it came to Britney or how he's moved on from their court battle. A July 18 agreement ended the nearly two-year case, with Kevin retaining sole custody of the boys, and his spousal support being bumped up to $20,000 from $15,000. "I'm not here to talk about that," he said.
Kevin, who played the Trump National Golf Club course with a friend, wore baggy shorts and sneakers, smoked cigarettes off the golf course, drank iced coffee, and drove his own golf cart. He took practice shots on the driving range before the game, but both of his shots on Hole in One competition missed.
"I tried to warm up before I got here, but..." Kevin laughed. "It's going to be one of those up-and-down days. We'll have to see how it goes." He also said on the red carpet, with a smile, that his children know when their father is at play. "They know when daddy's golfing," he said.
Kevin was mum about his future work plans. His last rap CD, Playing with Fire, came out in 2006. The musician said he's still a hip-hop fan. "I don't know, I'm going to make everybody wait on that," Kevin said. "I'm not revealing any work strategy right now."

Kirsten Dunst has the perfect soundtrack for a summer stroll. The actress tunes out to her iPod Thursday while trekking through New York's SoHo neighborhood.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody settlement was signed Friday by a judge, officially ending their nearly two-year custody battle. In the deal reached last week, Federline retained sole custody of Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2. Britney – who is currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will get an additional sleepover by year's end, barring any setbacks.
"She's thrilled," the pop star's attorney Laura Wasser told PEOPLE. "To have more time with her kids has been her motivation to get well. In light of her outstanding conservatorship, she couldn't have asked for anything more."
Brit also agreed to increase Kevin's child support to $20,000 a month (a $5,000 increase) and pay off his $250,000 legal tab. Documents show the child support increase went into effect on July 15, and that Britney's father, who remains in legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing, approved of the settlement terms.
Legal experts say the former couple will undoubtedly return to court in the future, since custody settlements can always be modified.
And in other Britney news…
Despite last year's disaster at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney has an invitation to return – from her fans. The pop star was nominated in online voting for best female video for her "Piece of Me" at the 2008 VMAs. The big question is whether Brit will make an appearance at show on Sept. 7 at Paramount studios in L.A. The singer will have to shake off her lackluster performance at the 2007 show in Las Vegas.

Britney Spears made a surprise appearance at a fundraiser for Jenny McCarthy's autism charity Generation Rescue Saturday in Los Angeles. As guests like Jenny's beau, Jim Carrey and Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller made the rounds, Britney, 26, sipped on red wine. Jim's daughter Jane also belted out a few Frank Sinatra and Jackson 5 tunes. Britney, 26, "definitely looked happy," a witness tells Usmagazine.com. "She was clapping and smiling a lot."
It was Britney’s first public outing since reaching a custody agreement with ex Kevin Federline last week. Kevin gets sole custody, Britney gets three visits a week from Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2, including two overnights. If all goes well, she could have her boys roughly 40 percent of the time, her attorney, Laura Wasser, has said. Wasser told the Associated Press the "difference" in Britney "from the beginning of this year to now is astonishing. Brit is spending her summer recording a new album.

Britney Spears and her ex Kevin Federline have reached a custody settlement in their epic court battle over their two sons. According to the agreement, which still needs to be signed off on by the court, Kevin retains sole custody of the couple's two sons, Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2. Britney – who's currently allowed two visits and one overnight per week – will keep her visitation rights.
"The case has been settled," Kevin's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan (working with attorney James Simon), tells PEOPLE. "This is the end of a two-year journey." Britney's attorney, Laura Wasser, said outside the courtroom after the hearing: "Britney's doing great. She's very pleased [with the settlement]. The kids are with her right now." Without giving details, Wasser confirmed that Brit did win "more custodial time" with the boys.
"Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court," says L.A. family lawyer Lynn Soodik, who is not involved with the case. "Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One." E! was first to report the couple's settlement.

It was a family affair Saturday as Lynne Spears hung out with Britney and her sons Sean Preston, 2 ½, and Jayden James, 1 ½, for an overnight visit at the star's Studio City home. In town since Wednesday, Lynne and Britney have been enjoying some mother-daughter bonding, shopping at the True Religion warehouse and Pottery Barn on Friday before enjoying a "girls dinner" of salad, sushi rolls, and fish at Bond St. restaurant with two of Britney's pals.
"Britney walked in with a big smile and introduced her mom to the staff," says an observer. "She looked gorgeous, and I have never seen her in a better mood. She was laughing the whole time she was here. Britney seemed to have the best time hanging out with her mom and friends." Meanwhile, dad Jamie spent the weekend at his new house in Santa Monica.

Britney Spears wants to move from her L.A. house to "a lower density, more quiet and less trafficked neighborhood," according to a court document filed by her co-conservators, father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet. The singer would like a home "more accessible to parks and recreation areas" for her children, Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2, the document says.
Saturday night was the first time Sean and Jayden spent an overnight visit with Britney, 26, since she was hospitalized at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in January. The sale of her L.A. home would be in "the best interest of [Spears], her Estate and her minor children," the document says.
Earlier this month, Britney was granted permission to sell the six-bedroom home. At the time, mom Lynne told the court that her daughter "intends to return to Louisiana," her home state. Meanwhile, Britney and ex Kevin Federline are preparing for a custody trial, set to begin August 25. Kevin currently has primary custody of their children.

After spending the last year watching her sister Britney Spears struggle to overcome the pitfalls of fame and, at just 16, announcing her own pregnancy with boyfriend Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn Spears tells OK! exclusively that she plans to lead a much more low-key life with her new baby daughter. "More than anything, I just want this baby to have a normal life," Jamie Lynn, 17, told OK!.
And she stayed true to her word when, in the pre-dawn hours of June 21, just two days after her birth, Maddie Briann Aldridge got her first taste of celebrity. Barely 48 hours old, Maddie and her mom, Jamie Lynn were the stars of a finely choreographed dance meant to fool the paparazzi and allow the pair to get home safely without the kind of mad crush that greeted big sis Britney when she tearfully returned to L.A. from Louisiana 12 hours earlier.
State troopers, private security detail and Jamie Lynn look-alikes were all used to sneak mom and baby out of Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, Mississippi, and back to their new home in Liberty. The ruse was pulled off successfully with the help of Maddie's grandma Lynne Spears and proud papa Casey Aldridge, 18, who drove Jamie Lynn's SUV with decoys hidden behind a large white sheet in the backseat.
Maddie's birth on June 19 was, thankfully, more low-key. Reports that Jamie Lynn had delivered via C-section were completely false. Her labor began on June 18 — two days before her expected due date — and at 9:33 the next morning, Maddie had made her grand entrance.
Barely more than a child herself, Jamie Lynn has proven to be exceptionally mature in dealing with her pregnancy and motherhood. Her priority is to give Maddie an upbringing that is more Kentwood than Hollywood.
Though Britney, 26, is well on her way to getting her life and career back on track, Jamie Lynn has seen the impact that fame has had on her super-famous sister, including two broken marriages, three stints in rehab and a brutal child-custody battle. "We want to give the baby the most normal life she could ever have," Jamie Lynn tells OK!.

Britney Spears was awarded overnight privileges with her sons, PEOPLE confirms. The pop star hasn't had her children overnight since January following her forced hospitalization at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
A closed-door hearing Tuesday, attended by Britney and her ex, Kevin Federline, also saw the return of Britney's first divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, who has officially replaced Stacy Phillips. L.A. Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini confirmed that Brit's parenting coach attended the hearing and made statements to the court, and that Brit's demeanor before the commissioner was "businesslike." "I think any judge is pleased to see progress being made by parties in a case," Parachini added.
Details of the hearing's outcome were not announced. But a source confirms for PEOPLE that Britney will now be allowed to have her sons Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2, with her overnight. The former couple face a custody trial in August, unless they can settle their case amicably out of court. Their next hearing is set for July 15. The overnight visits were first reported by TMZ.com.
