He's been linked to many beautiful women and has been labeled a womanizer, but John Mayer assures that he has "never cheated on anybody."
"I've never cheated on anybody, so you won't have anybody coming out the woodwork saying that I have," he tells The Telegraph. "Instead of worrying about career damage, I've dated women. All I've ever done was decided that I fancied somebody, and said, 'Would you like to go out and get a meal somewhere?' And done so in a social setting, where other people can see you."
If that goes well, it may lead to a few more meals, but when he realizes the relationship may not work out, John says he's quick to call it quits. "When I realized that I didn't wanna wrong anybody by continuing, said, 'I'd rather be a great friend to you than a bad boyfriend,'" he says. "I swear to God, I have a really good track record!'"
The 30-year-old has romanced -- rumored and real -- Jennifer Love Hewitt, Minka Kelly, Jessica Simpson, Cameron Diaz, Heidi Klum, Vanessa Carlton, and most recently, Jennifer Aniston, whom he met through mutual friend Sheryl Crow.
The pairing seemed unlikely and left many scratching their heads over its veracity, but John promises it's no publicity stunt. "I've never done things solely for money," he says. "I think that's what I wanna say...The one thing I'll take with me to my grave, hopefully, is that I've never made a decision based on anything other than my heart."
John is currently on tour in Europe and Jennifer, 39, has flown out to show her man some support -- media frenzy and all. "This is one of the hardest lifestyles to live, socially, because there's so many ways that it can go dirty," he says. And I'm just trying to live as suburban a life inside of what I guess is a much larger persona now than I've ever had."
He continues, "That's why I'm so happy to go back out on tour - but the thing is, even I'm less interested in talking about music than I am in talking about this stuff?! It's not even the elephant in the room, it's like the room is inside the elephant. We're talking inside the elephant's ass right now!"

Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are about to face off...on the big screen. Angelina's drama Changeling and Jennifer's romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into You are both scheduled to be released October 24, Usmagazine.com has confirmed. (Changeling will be out in limited release before going wide October 31.)
Angie — who earns $12-15 million a movie — is already generating Oscar buzz for her role a mother whose son is kidnapped ("her performance hits home," a Variety critic wrote).
Meanwhile, Jen— who rakes in an estimated $8 million a movie — plays Ben Affleck's love interest in the adaptation of the best-selling relationship book.
So who's the bigger box office draw? Jen, says Brandon Gray, the president and publisher of Box Office Mojo. "Aniston is more relatable to moviegoers and can star in these romantic comedies or dramas more successfully than Jolie," he tells Us.
"Angelina has tried to have variety in her career, but time and time again, she goes back to these vixen or bad girl roles," Gray adds. "She's had some success in those, but when she's strayed from it, she's flopped." (He cited 2003's Beyond Borders and 2007's A Mighty Heart as examples.) Jennifer, he said, "has carried successful pictures like The Break Up and Along Came Polly."
